Training leaders to create clean energy solutions
Pioneer Energy is a grassroots, youth-led organization that combines education and action to drive common sense clean energy legislation in states across the country. We train student and grassroots groups in the fundamentals of policy design and legislative advocacy, and then mobilize those same groups to take on clean energy policy campaigns in their home states.
Our mission is twofold: to pass our keystone zero-carbon energy policy in the states where it will have the greatest impact, and to equip everyday people with the skills and confidence to lead that change themselves.
What is Legislative Advocacy?
Legislative advocacy is the process of influencing lawmakers to introduce, support, amend, or oppose laws and public policies. It can involve meeting with legislators, providing public testimony, organizing community support, contacting elected officials, or writing opinion pieces for local newspapers.
Many people believe the legislative process is beyond their reach and that only lawmakers, lobbyists, or special interest groups can influence public policy. In reality, anyone can participate in legislative advocacy. With the right knowledge, skills, and practice, individuals and communities can effectively advocate for the changes they want to see and help shape the laws that affect their lives.
